As a full-time scientist at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine, I have been involved in research and published on the use of light to treat infectious diseases. UV Angel has a team of scientists and engineers, in partnership with some very large and successful companies, developing state-of-the-art technologies that are addressing the unmet needs of environmental management today. During his tenure as a consultancy co-founder and principal, Dave’s contributions directly impacted user adoption and industry progression of in-market connected products, smart systems, and SaaS integrations via his close engagements with IoT pioneers including AT&T, Cisco, Disney, GM, Honeywell, HP, IBM, Motorola, OnStar, and P&G. His established track record of building essential networks and enhancing ecosystems across industries and markets has crafted unique vision for scalable solutions that deliver significant return on investment. Vice President of Marketing & Communications
With 20+ years building marketing infrastructure, aligning communication activities and crafting desired brand experiences, Bryson has engaged in life science, biotech, SaaS, and consumer product industries. He founded a marketing and brand agency where he created and directed a team of 80 freelancers across North America – creative thinkers, artisans and businesspeople to engineer sound strategies, advancing each client’s brand and marketing vision. Most recentIy as the VP of Marketing at Genestat Molecular diagnostics, he crafted the story of a new brand around the emerging products needed to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. Requiring consistent recalibration and rapid pivot to adjust to the ever-changing needs of the global pandemic environment, he led go-to-market strategies in the US, Middle East, and North Africa. Bryson has driven marketing and brand work for numerous organizations including: Bosch Mixers, United Way of America, Hamilton Company, Zymo Research, TP-Link, and SureCall.
Bryson holds a BS degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Weber State University. He and his wife Trudy have three children and reside in St. George, Utah. They take advantage of the red rock terrain as avid mountain bikers, hikers and snowboarders.
Vice President of Manufacturing and Supply Chain
With 35+ years of experience, Mike is an accomplished business leader with extensive engineering management and new business development knowledge. Leadership background includes design, development, and high volume production of complex mechatronic products for global OEM customers.
Mike has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and North America launching new product with customers and establishing robust global supply chains. He lead the design, sourcing, and automated manufacturing of Smart Actuator products for Ford Motor Company’s first start/stop systems; and $100+ million global sourcing of products and tooling for competitive advantage; and transformed an aerodynamic underbody business from labor intensive to robotic process.
He began his career with SPX Corporation where was integral to the growth of the Acutex Division until its sale. He was responsible for many product launches, including a novel electro-hydraulic technology for Mercedes Benz transmissions designed and built in Germany.
Mike is a graduate of Michigan Technological University and holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He and his wife Sue have three children and reside in Whitehall, MI. As life long West Michigan residents, outdoor activities, including boating, fishing, hiking, and motorcycles are regularly enjoyed.

Jennifer (Jen) Brant is a visionary CFO with a steadfast commitment to growth and innovation, boasting over two decades of unparalleled expertise in the healthcare, rehabilitation, and wellness sectors. Throughout her illustrious career, Jen has continually demonstrated her capabilities as a financial leader, orchestrating remarkable transformations that have propelled fledgling ventures into global powerhouses.
As the CFO at NuStep, Jen played a pivotal role in guiding the company from infancy to industry prominence. She steered NuStep’s journey, overseeing its evolution into a powerhouse in its niche market with over 100 employees and revenue multiplied by 10 times the industry average. Her leadership turned NuStep into a beacon within healthcare, serving diverse clients from hospitals to senior living communities to consumers, leaving an indelible mark on its success.
Jen’s knack for identifying business opportunities and adept financial management led to another triumph at C2Dx. In just five years as CFO, she propelled the startup’s sales from 1x to an impressive 6x, serving clients including hospitals, VA, and the military. Her ability to nurture talent, streamline operations, and foster innovation has solidified her reputation as a transformative leader capable of steering startups to profitability and success.
Now, taking on the role of CFO at UV Angel, Jen brings her wealth of experience and strategic foresight to drive the company to new heights. She’s poised to lead UV Angel’s financial strategy, nurture a high-performing team, and drive strategic decisions that unlock avenues for growth and innovation.
In addition to her professional achievements, Jen holds a B.S. in Accounting from the Eli Broad School of Business at Michigan State University and an MBA from the Ross School of Business at The University of Michigan. Outside of work, she finds joy in traveling and embarking on outdoor adventures with her husband, Jason, and two teenage children, Anna and Jacob.
Senior Vice President of Engineering
Hal has been leading innovation projects for over three decades. Hal guides his project teams through comprehensive human centered processes to discover the insights and define the solutions that create compelling user experiences and generate success for his clients and employers.
Hal’s creative expertise spans the entire human centered design process – from research, synthesis, and conceptualization to prototyping, detailed part design and pilot production. Hal’s teams have designed products and service across a broad range of industries, including medical devices, healthcare services, consumer products, transportation, architecture and financial services.
Hal began his career as a mechanical engineer for the US Army (civilian). Following a master’s degree from Stanford’s Joint Program in Design, Hal worked at IDEO for many years, completing nearly 100 innovation projects there. Hal recently accepted a position as Vice President of Engineering at UV Angel, a company committed to making healthcare, commercial and military indoor spaces safer and healthier.
Hal is passionate about learning by getting his hands dirty. Hal believes our designs – and our minds – function much better when we prototype.
Chief Product Officer
With experience leading onshore and offshore development teams, Paul is recognized for his ability to understand user needs and integrate them, quickly and effectively, into groundbreaking technologies. He has worked with numerous national and international companies spanning the healthcare, life sciences, retail, and consumer goods industries.
Before UV Angel, Paul served as IBM’s Senior Digital Strategy Consultant. In his role, he worked on projects ranging from AI-enhanced healthcare prediction systems to education analytics to large-scale enterprise applications.
He began his career with Cisco Systems in Sales and Product Strategy, where he focused on technologies that would enable greater sales team performance.
Paul is a graduate of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. He splits his time between Washington D.C. and Grand Haven, MI, and enjoys volunteering, traveling, and skiing in his free time.

Tom brings more than three decades of strategic business development and leadership experience to the technology, and health and life sciences industries.
With a focus on defining strategy and driving revenue in emerging markets, Tom has a passion for integrating health needs with cutting-edge product solutions. By working closely with customers, he finds innovative ways to empower teams to develop products that improve outcomes in multiple markets.
Before his role at UV Angel, Tom founded Byrne Advisory Group, where his team provided sales, engineering, and product development expertise to a range of clients.
Tom began his healthcare career as an Account Executive for McKesson General Medical. He then advanced his responsibilities, first as a Regional Sales Manager for Stryker Corporation, then as a Vice President for a closely held medical products company in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
A graduate of Northwood University DeVos School of Business, Tom sits on Advisory Boards for a range of early-stage companies, and actively supports a host of community and educational initiatives. He and his wife, Paula, have three children and live in Grand Haven, Michigan.
Chief Technology & Innovation Officer
A pioneer in electronic design and structured innovation, Dave oversees the platform of the UV Angel ecosystem and intellectual property portfolio.
Previously the Director of Advanced Technologies at Fulton Innovation, a division of Amway Corporation, Dave was the lead inventor of eCoupled™ intelligent wireless power technology.
Recognized around the globe, eCoupled is a foundational technology implemented in the Qi global wireless power standard. In addition to eCoupled, Dave was responsible for the technical supervision and development of several Fulton Innovation technologies.
Dave joined Amway in 1997, where he pioneered the use of intelligent inductive coupling in the eSpring Water Purifier. On the market for eight years, more than 1.5 million devices were sold in 38 countries.
Prior to Amway, Dave founded EBW Electronics, which today is rated 2,338th in the US, boasting 166% growth over the past three years.
Baarman holds over 300 US patents, 560 foreign patents, and has 350 patent applications pending. He is a 2010-2011 Michigan Leadership in Innovation finalist, 2011 Edison Award finalist, 2012 Best in Biz Award winner, 2012 Technology Executive of the Year, and 2012 Product Development/Management Executive of the Year.
CFO
Bret offers over 30 years of executive leadership experience building and growing successful, strategically focused businesses.
Before UV Angel, Bret served as Chief Operating Officer for Cherette Group, a fully integrated property development/real estate company. Bret coordinated all operational aspects for the West Michigan firm, including investment performance, bank relationships, finance, and risk management.
From 2007 to 2013 Bret was Managing Director of Fulton Innovation, a division of Amway Corporation. Offering value-driven strategic direction, Bret’s work was instrumental to the commercialization of eCoupled™, the wireless power technology developed by UV Angel’s, Dave Baarman, and his team of engineers and scientists.
With Fulton Innovation as one of the founding members of the Wireless Power Consortium, Bret served as co-chairman of the steering committee responsible for developing the Qi standard, the globally recognized standard for wireless power.
Entrepreneurially minded, Bret has owned and operated companies around the world in industries ranging from component and advanced manufacturing systems to energy and real estate. He has also held senior-level positions in sales, marketing, operations, and finance with both public and privately held companies.
Bret is a graduate of Carroll University where he majored in Business and Finance. He and his wife, Rebecca, have two sons and make their home in West Michigan.
Chief Medical Affairs & Science Officer
A sought-after health industry speaker and author, Dr. Lee has spent over 30 years working with organizations, ranging from CH2M Hill to the MD Anderson Cancer Center.
A certified indoor air quality manager and certified in infection control with a focus on the relationship of opportunistic environmental pathogens, Dr. Lee brings more than three decades of experience to her role at UV Angel.
In addition to positions at CH2M Hill, WM Healthcare Solutions, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Stericycle, Dr. Lee has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications as well as three American Hospital Association-published books.
After earning her Bachelor’s in Environmental Health Science from Indiana State University, Dr. Lee earned a Master’s in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas College of Engineering. She completed a Doctorate of Public Health in Occupational and Environmental Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center and has an MBA with an emphasis in Healthcare Management.
Dr. Lee has been invited to present at SHEA, AIHce, IPAC-Canada, and the C Diff Foundation Conference and is a corresponding Member of ASHRAE Ultraviolet Air & Surface Treatment-T-TAC-TC02.09 & ASHRAE Roster Health Care Facilities-T-TAC-TC09.06.
In her spare time, Dr. Lee enjoys spending time with her three grandchildren and rooting on her Houston Texans.

Ted has 25 years of experience in leadership roles in Information Technology. This includes founding West Michigan’s first all-Windows based online service which focused on West Michigan’s 450 Churches. This innovative service received a grant from the Pine Rest Foundation in recognition of its public-service value. Ted also served as Director of Information Services & Director of Telecommunications for Holland Home, a large West Michigan Nonprofit that provides a wide array of health services, assisted living, & other services to the elderly.

Dave Jerovsek brings extensive electronic/mechatronic systems knowledge with product-based high-volume manufacturing operations experience to UV Angel that will be a significant value-add to our organization. Dave’s overall business leadership experience and industry intel from various markets such as Automotive, Appliance, and Commercial Vehicle to name a few, will certainly prove to be a positive impact to our team and vision. Most recently with automotive-based GHSP of Grand Haven, MI, Dave has held domestic and global responsibilities ranging from General Manager Electronics Operations, Director of Program Management, Vice President of Operations, and President- North America and Emerging Markets. Dave has greatly impacted all levels of organizations by leading teams through significant cultural and core-competency technology changes, resulting in record growth. In addition to 30+ years of relative industry experience, Dave holds an AS Degree in Electronics Technology, and BBA in Financial Analysis & Business Leadership from Baker College.
